'I cycle because it is not very easy for me to walk. Quite a few years ago I was in an accident which resulted in a brain injury. Since then I walk with difficulty. The people at my school realized that I would find it easier to cycle, so they designed this bicycle for me. It is just easier for me to cycle. My school came up with this name for the bicycle - Vinnige Fanie. The school in Kimberley is a special school for people that find it difficult to get on with life. So they made this bicycle so I can get to class on time. The school there is also designed so that there is only one level so we can get to class quickly - so that we will be on time. For example; classes like biology, history or geography. The bicycle is designed so that the other children don't look down on me - so that I can be on time. The teachers there are very understanding and the physiotherapy was part of the classes. I'm now finished with school so I don't go there anymore - my parents aren't in the financial position to send me there again. I've had Vinnige Fanie since standard 6. I'm now… ha ha, don't get a fright - 42! I'm good friends with the bicycle - he is used to me. The wheels need a bit of pumping, as soon as possible - it is not a pleasure to ride when the wheels are flat.'
