'All the years I've been riding - for the council where I was working. I was a postman, then later also using the motorbike - collecting parcels at the airport and the station. I worked for them for 42 years. I used to earn 1 Pound 7 a week. That is like 10 Rand 75 cents. Yes, a week! Ha ha. Now I get R2800 pension. I was born here and went to school here. I bought this one here in Kimberley. It’s pleasurable. It keeps me healthy and so on, I have no problem with cycling. I can't complain about pain, nothing. I don't drink, I don't smoke. My hobby is riding the bicycle. I enjoy it - ha ha, I haven't got money for a car or so. I ride everywhere with the bicycle, to far places - I don't care how far it is. I'm used to the bicycle. I love it, it is like my hobby, no problems. No sickness, headaches - nothing. Just carry on everyday, to work, doing odd jobs. Like cutting trees, pruning and working here in the yard - it keeps me busy. It keeps me well. Me and my brothers and sisters used to play cricket, soccer, rugby, netball and swim. Always making jokes and all that, ha ha, always being happy. I like to be happy and make jokes and talk to people - it is not the color of your skin that matters. God is always there. Go to church, teach the children to play sports, keep you clean inside and outside. Smile and the whole world will smile with you. The Lord is very good for us. I love God, he keeps me on my way and he makes me happy. We used to be 7 brothers and 5 sisters, everyone is gone. It is now just two brothers, me and another brother. They all died. Guess I'm getting older now but I'm still on my bicycle, riding my own canoe - winter, summer doesn't matter what time it is. It makes me happy and I feel good. I'm still fit.'
